Who we are
HIV and Aging Coalition, Houston Area was established in August of 2013 to address two major issues that affect those living with an HIV infection that are over fifty years old. The first reason was to educate our community and agencies that serve us about issues that affect us and services that are available and or necessary. The second reason is to help break down the social isolation many people over fifty living with the infection face.
The Coalition is a loose gathering of people that are infected with HIV and agency representatives, there is no formal membership. While we tend to have presentations that affect those that are aging many of our presentations are valuable for anyone that hopes to live a healthy life although infected. We never check for your age and welcome anyone interested in our topics.
We hold our monthly meetings at the Montrose Center, the Center is involved in our organization as a sponsor and the co-facilitator is a member of the staff. This does not mean that we are a part of the Center but we do try to live under their umbrella, including fiscally.
